Are there any books or supplemental materials worth buying before med school?

I was thinking of buying Acland's Anatomy DVD set. Should I go for it?

Great resource if you can find the time to actually view it. I confess to having borrowed it from my school's library and burned it and then I ended up not watching much of it at all because time always seemed too precious. Good for getting the 3D visual image in your head but not as efficient for actually cramming.

my school gave it for free.

My school offered it online for free during our class. Check with your school.

I would wait until classes started. Get some advice from 2nd years at your school and see what they used. You can buy books cheaper at half.com or from upper levels. I would say Netter's Atlas or some comparable anatomy book is worthing buying. You can always ask faculty if they have any extra copies or check out the library.
