Hello all,

I haven't found much information on WSU on here. I have an interview in a couple of weeks with them and am kind of feeling nervous. I have around 3.5 and 3.8 GPAs and a 28 Q on the MCAT. I applied real late. Anybody have any advice?

Thanks!

Hey Does anyone remember the questions that were on the secondary application? I seem to have forgotten these.

Yes. When you're there, tell them to make a decision on my APP!!! Sorry, I don't have a lot of advice for you. I went to school w/in ~45 mins from there and our orthopedic surgeon for our team graduated from WSU. He always told me to "play up" the primary care thing b/c wright st loves it. He said not to tell them/ stress any kind of specialty medicine if that's what I wanted to do. You can take that for what it's worth. Good luck!!

Btw, are you IS or OOS?

I am in state. That is what I was thinking of doing too, play the primary care card. I come from a pretty disadvantaged background while being an ORM so maybe it played to my favor.

Ah yes. I've heard they're fans of women and minorities as well (although I don't know about URM vs ORM)

I'm not a woman, but I am an ORM...we will see. It's probably my good looks that got me the interview :)

I interviewed there back in October, but got rejected. I like the univ., people were very nice, and my interviewer was a great guy...the interview was very laid back..so relax..they ask me a lot of questions about my family and background...a weird question was what doctor means? it means to teach..just in case..I am also an URM, so good luck.:luck:

Has anyone been accepted here recently? I'm (im)patiently waiting to get my decision, I interviewed on Jan 30, and was wondering if they are still sending out many acceptances or switching over to only waitlist. Any news?

Wait... there is a "Boonshoft School of Medicine?" I thought this was going to be a stewart type thread.

Their incoming class a couple years back was predominately women but it evened out recently. I figured they had more women because they would be more likely to say want primary care.

I did too. :)

No offense to WSU applicants - most of us don't know the official names of schools that we don't apply to.

What's up with mildly suggestive med school names?
Boonshoft
Keck
Rocky Vista (it's a pornstar name)
Robert Wood Johnson

It is also the first for-profit medical school in the US. It is owned by the son of a Caribbean medical school owner. That's a little sketchy.

Interesting read on Wikipedia - no allopathic residencies for graduates of for-profit schools. For-profit, by definition, means less money staying in the school - no good.

I'm sure but I cant be expected to know all 150+ med schools

You've got to admit Boonshoft sounds a bit funny though.

Yeah, I was totally unfamiliar with a lot of the other names many schools went by. I knew UCLA had a medical school, but had no idea what people meant when talking about the David Geffen School of Medicine before the app. cycle began.

does anyone know when wright ranks their waitlist, and when they will let us know what 3rd we are apart of?

This is what they told us at my interview: they rank the waitlist once they are done interviewing and offering acceptances, and after May 15 (so they can attempt to somewhat rectify the shuffling before they finalize the waitlist). He said that we could contact them to inquire about where we stand on the waitlist at the end of May/beginning of June.
