I am considering IM residencies in Boston.
I am mostly interested in middle tier programs such as BU/Tufts,etc...

Anyone know what the word on the street is regarding these programs?

Thanks

I went to school in New England and though I don't know much about Tufts, BU has a reputation for being a strong program, but for working their interns and residents extremely hard (unnecessarily hard, according to lots of faculty).

I know people at both Tufts and BU and both sides say they work harder than the other side.. so the take home is that they both are probably overworked.

But, the new 80 hour work week is going to change a lot. Wait for the word from this year's intern class.

I think BU is stronger than Tufts clinically, and they are a Top 12 (?) research center in funding (much better than Tufts). There is also an exodus from NEMC to the other Boston programs according to my friends at both places. The other plus or minus regarding the 2 programs is that BU rotates at the VA with Brigham. VAs are hard work.. but worth it.
