1. BU invites me for an interview
2. BU accepts me for class 2006
3. UOP denies me (my #1 choice)
4. Tufts denies me (my #2 choice)
5. U. Penn denies me (my #3 choice)

Hey Viraj,

Just be yourself and show them that you want dentistry. They can tell whether you want it badly or not. Also, make sure you rember what you wrote in your application regarding your educational experiences.

Hey,

I'm not going to BU, but I did get accepted...

by far they were the coolest dental school i interviewed at. They had the best interview format, friendly staff, teched out school (plasma tv's and a simulation center!), and I had a great interview.

Unfortunately, i'm not going there b/c the price tag is a bit high for a non-ivy league school.
I'll be going to columbia next yr..but Boston U is by far my favorite.

I had a regional interview on Jan 18th and yesterday I received an acceptance letter! The only problem is that they want a $3000 deposit by Feb.18th and the only way I can afford to go to BU is if I get the army scholarship. I won't know that until march. Does anyone know if they give extensions on deposits becuase I definately want to go to BU if I get the scholarship. Any opinions/info. would be great.

It should take about three weeks for them to answer. Did your interview go well? How many other students were there with you?

Kmmm,

I suggest you contact the school and speak to your interviewer or Dr. Shaw about your situation. I think that you have a legitimate plea for an extension. However, is it possible for you to find $3000 elsewhere? Friends/Family?

you can get a maximum of 15 day extention (yeah like that's going to help you get 3K)... i think it's more to wait and see if you hear from more schools in those few days that's what i used it for...going to send out my decline of their acceptance this week opens a spot for you...
oh yeah i heard from BU w/in 3 weeks and my friend heard in less than a week can you believe that? (we both got in, and probably both declining...who's got 60+K a year?!)

My interview went very well, I mean i feel that I had done my best to impress them to consider me as a candidate for their dental program. There were 7 more students who were with me in the interview. Especially for Bucky, and Star, I don't know if I should thank you for opening a spot, as I understand how huge amount of debt 250000 is,so I could only say that I wish u would have chosen BU, so hopefully we would have been a part of same Dental program. I know u guys are gonna do the best wherever u r, so I would just say good luck to u all.

Hi Toothdecay-

I have the $3000 for deposit, that's not really the problem. Where it gets difficult is if I put down the deposit and then don't get the scholarship-I'm not going to attend BU so I would be out of that money. I guess it is a risk I might have to take,though. I have the BU deposit due, the UMaryland deposit due($300), and on Monday I have the University of Washington interview (my state school). It is so stressful making these decisions! Thanks for your advice!

StarGirl, what excuse did you have to give to get the 15 day extension? Im still waiting for uConn so the extra 15 days could really help.

Toothdecay, how are you paying for it? Are you from U of T?

Hello Kmm,

I think it's quite obvious that you should submit the 300 to UMaryland and perhaps ask for the 15 day extension to see what news you get from the other schools. However, I'd love to see you attend BU though. Like I said, contact BU and make your case. Your reason is quite legit to prompt an extension.

Check out Scotiabank for their loan package. I've submitted an application and am waiting for a response. My relatives will be helping me out a bit and I'll be seeking OSAP assistance. The funding is predominantly coming from my parents.

I'll be in Boston today to home-out a place to stay.

Hello fellow BU classmates....so now the process begins...how do we start this entire financial aid thing...seems like alot of paperwork, which is fine if I know what i am doing...pls help!! i want to do this independently, w/o my parents financial assistance, which they are offering, but it feels better in the end to say you did it by yourself...thats a shout out to all my independant women out there

Congrats!

I just came back from Boston a couple of hours ago and heck, housing is hard to find. Really hard to find.

The school should be sending out a list of financial institutions that are willing to lend you money. I think they'll be sending that out once the class is full.

The class size is 120 and they've filled 75 spots. So, not to worry yet!
