I got a mention in the paper (acknowledgement section) for work I did on a project in lab for about a year and a half. I am NOT one of the authors. Should I bother mentioning this with my experience description on the AMCAS app-- would it look bad?

I would. I listed research work that I did, and it turned out that nothing was ever published from it. However, it still made for great interview conversation. They love that stuff.

if you use the job as one of your activities, you can mention that in the explanation section instead of taking up an entire activity for it.
