What was the effect of the soy protein diet on cholesterol levels?

A.The soy diet was hypercholsterolemic
B.The soy diet was hypocholsterolemic (correct)
C.The soy diet was isocholsterolemic (my answer)
D.The soy diet was microcholsterolemic

Now the data say for the control diet,Cholesterol (mmol/L) was 4.27 +- 1.08, and for the soy diet it was 3.86+-1.01. From my experience with research and science a result like that, which is within one standard deviation of each other is not significant and thus you cannot make some conclusion that one was greater or less than the other. However, BR appears to think because the average is lower for the soy diet that's enough info to decide the soydiet was hypocholsteromic. Is this the logic that the MCATs will use? Thanks in advance.

Not really worth splitting hairs over. But you are technically correct. In reality it should technically be no change.

On the real MCAT I think the table will have a key that tells you if values are significant/insignificant. I know other BR passages have done this, so I think this is just a bad question.
