Hi,
I am considering getting braces as a dental student. I am currently a 3rd year student, with interest in specializing in OMFS. I had braces about 15 years ago, and my teeth have shifted since then and I have some spaces and some are crooked. I think I would get about a 50% discounted (from the school's ortho rates) to have an ortho resident do them. My question is, should I spend the just under $2000 now to do it with the discount, or, when I get out in 2 years (GP) or 6-8 years (OMFS) from now, is it fair to say that dentists network in an area with GP's and specialists and odds are I could have a friendly referral orthodontist do them at that time at a much cheaper rate (free-ish!). I guess it probably depends on where and who, so there's a lot up in the air, just curious as to what people think. Thanks!
