I've been recruited to help think up a new name for an existing outpatient alcohol-substance treatment center. I haven't sold myself on any of my ideas yet.

Any Madison Ave. types lurking around here? Suggestions appreciated.

All the ones I can think of are so fluffy. It always seems like addiction clinics have a very simple formula. Take a pretty word, slap "horizons" onto it, and voila! Like... Sunset Horizons, New Horizons, Spring Horizons.

Oh wait. How about... Opium Fields Addictions Clinic? ahaha.

This is what happens when I try to brainstorm after a day of running errands.

What sort of name are you looking for? I'll do better I promise. lol

This just struck me as really funny for some reason.

:D I try

You could always go nice and simple by using the name of an island. They tend to have pretty names. haha. Like um... Seneca or Corsica. But those are also reserved for my two daughters that I will have sometime in the distant future. lol.

Corsica? Wasn't that a car?

How about this deal...i think of a name, and I get a 'freebie' stay. I don't think i'd actually use it, but with inflation being what it is....it'd be a good investment!

As for names.....

I've always like Turning Point....it has probably been used....but I like it.

New Beginnings (generic...blah!)

Three Points (then you define what those points are, and tie in a tag line)

Haha yeah it's a car too. It's also an island that belongs to France though.

My poor [future] kids are gonna get beaten up.

Ah, yeah, France! That, too. Good thing I'm not going there anytime soon. :D I think I knew someone who owned a Corsica (a car--not the island!) once, so that's why I thought of it.

And, don't worry, kids are resilient lil critters--car (or island) names shouldn't be a problem. Heck, I have students in my class with names like Stone & Sparkle, among others.

hehe, there we go--on topic: The Stoned Clinic

LOL I love it!

How about Phoenix House? Ya know, the whole phoenix rising from ashes thing is kind of a nice metaphor. Overdone, but it'll do!

How about.....

Drugs For Hugs!

Did you mean Hugs For Drugs? Or simply Revoke Our License?

Yes, it's been done. Besides it's too, er . . . Shirley MacLaineish.

I didn't expect the thread to implode upon itself that quickly -- not with the first response, anyway. At least no one suggested naming the clinic the Hero Inn.

Most clinic names are generic sounding or cloying or both. I floated Point Of Return as a possibility, but it didn't float too many boats. I'm shooting for something that's at least a little hip sounding but not too far out.

The 13th step

I thought of that one too. (Kind of like the ubiquitous 19th Hole you find at every golf course.) The 13th step is the one into the grave. Ouch! Not a blue ribbon choice.
