My situation is that I will be moving 1200 miles from where I currently live to attend medical school (New York to Missouri). I realize that if one is a full time student out-of-state they do not need to get a new driver's license in the state where one is attending school, however, my registration will be expiring during my first year and there will be no practical way to get my vehicle back to NY to get the inspection required by NY law to renew my registration. I would like some insight as to what folks who have moved far afield for school have done about their license and registration. Do most people change their state of residence when they start medical school and switch everything over to the new state as one will be spending the vast majority of time in the new state anyway? Forgive my lack of knowledge in this area as I have never encountered this sort of situation before because I did my undergraduate work in my state of residence. Thanks for any insight any of you can provide🙂.
