Hi guys,

I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question, but here goes. A friend of mine is training to be a GP (general practitioner) in England. She would love to move to US. What are her options? Obviously she has to take the boards, but is it true that she also has to repeat her residency here?

Any advice/info/resource would be great.

Thanks

Generally, yes. She must take step 1 and step 2 (written plus practical components) of the USMLE, and then get her ECFMG certificate before applying for U.S. residencies. The good news is that family medicine training is only three year from start to finish.
