How would you rank these programs. BROWN, TUFTS, LAHEY, BOSTON U?
I want to go into a GI fellowship.

Tufts-NEMC tends to be the best of the 4 at placing people into prestigious fellowships overall. However, BU and Brown have been strong in recent years in placing people into GI (12/13 applicants in GI from BU have been placed so far; all at strong programs!), and Lahey usually reserves a spot for one of its' IM grads in its' excellent GI program. UMass is also worth a look as well; they have a strong GI fellowship that many of their grads end up at, and UMass grads in recent years have gone to BWH and Cornell for GI. Tough call, but good luck.

Basically agree with the above post. I might put Lahey a little lower on the list than the other three, since it is more of a community place (Although irelandesa probably knows more about the place since she is from the area). The other three programs are all pretty much solid and at the same level. I think it's more a personal preference issue.....do u like the subspecialty system at Tufts, the public hospital autonomy at BU, or the overall atmosphere/mutihospital training at Brown? As a sidenote, i noticed the GI placement at Brown was pretty strong, with alot of people going into GI...i remember one resident was going to the Brigham. Anyway, good luck, its almost over.

I would also agree and say that BU, NEMC, and Brown on all equal in this regard. Lahey is a great place to train also, but unfortunately they only have one spot for an internal housestaff in GI. As for a Brown resident going to the brigham, i dont know about that. But I do know a BU resident starting at BWH for GI next year, she's also a former tufts grad.
