hi!
just wanted to know whether you could do a Bsc in Canada then do your MD in some other country like Australia or the US (especially if you're not Canadian or American or Australian)
and does the MD in Canada have any recognition on other countries? (heard that it doensn't )
thanks

Sure you can. However, simply going to undergrad in Canada doesn't provide you with much leverage in obtaining medical school admission in the US or Canada if you are not a citizen of either country. A few schools in Australia have reserved a few places for international candidates with undergraduate degrees; currently you are required to leave after your medical education but would be eligible for US residency through ECFMG certification. Because of Canada's stance on IMGs you would be advised to try and stay there or the US for medical education if you plan on practicing in Canada.

The requirements of acceptable medical degrees will vary by country. The majority of medical degrees earned in First World countries will be recognized by other First World countries, but you may be prevented from practicing in other countries without native or additional residency training. You are better off doing your training in the country in which you eventually desire to practice in. A Canadian medical degree is well recognized in the US and does not require ECFMG certification to enter a US residency. Before embarking on any medical degree, make sure that it will meet the requirements of the country in which you will eventually practice.

Hope this helps.
