Buffalo Rejection

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Same thing. 2.5 rejections so far from schools in my state.

I got it too...this SUNY pre-fix is really misleading. I figured something tagged SUNY would give NY residents some priority...maybe they did and I got left out for crappy stats.

Let's see Buffalo is off the list, on hold at Upstate, in limbo (complete and under review) at Stony, Downstate, Einstein, Rochester and Albany.

i'm not a NY resident, although i did get an interview at albany (which isn't part of the SUNY system.) the only SUNY schools i applied to were buffalo and downstate. i didn't feel like filling out the extensive stony brook secondary, so i skipped it.

Yeah the Stony Brook secondary is a pain in the ass....three essays. I think I made a mistake there though. They usually have the same three essays, so, I read over this year's secondary really quickly and just printed out last year's essays are sent it out. But on closer observation...one of the essays had been changed. If they still bother to give me an interview after that, there will be a hilarious topic to speak of and if not, I'll know just one of the reasons I got rejected.

Personally, I am hoping that since Stony is one of the better SUNYs, they'll be like "What the Dickens! this applicant didn't even bother to write the correct essay for our prestigious application for our prestigious school. Why it almost seems this young man doesn't give a flippity **** about our school, that must mean he's in high demand at other schools...we must interview him at once...nay...let's accept him". And then they ask a secretary named Prudence to send me an invitation.

Rayhan, you really made me laugh out loud there! 😀
I haven't heard yet from stony brook either...but keep hope alive. There are so many of us damn South Asian New Yorkers applying to suny's that it pretty much works against us. Oh well! Hope for the best...and expect the worst, is that how the saying goes? Crap, now I'm depressed again...

Yeah, I received snail mail rejection, but it wasn't as harsh as Vandy's. 🙁

I intend to save UB's rejection letter and use it to light my acceptance celebratory cigar. I don't smoke, but will be making an exception.

why, what was so harsh about vanderbilt's rejection?

Buffalo: "the volume of highly qualified applicants who apply to our school places us in the undesirable position of having to disappoint many who are excellent candidates. I regret to inform you that you were not selected for interview....I find it very difficult writing this letter and hope that the many students we turn away will flourish elsewhere."

Vanderbilt: "Based on a review of your credentials, the Committee has determined that you will not be offered admission into the 2006 First Year Class"

Buffalo: Real pen signature of Associate Dean
Vandy: Computer printed signature of Assitant Dean

kinda like Rumsfeld's computer printed signature to the families of US soldiers who died in Iraq....if only people were more sympathetic.
