i will be attending ICO this upcoming August and i am from chicago. i was wondering if anyone has considered buying/bought a condo/home instead of renting during your four years of optometry school. i was just curious how difficult/advantageous such an investment would be given the high costs of renting during optometry school.

if you can afford it, buy, you can't go wrong. will always be an investment which will pay off in the long run. i considered buying but will have to rent...it's just not feasible!

I too am attending ICO this august and considard this, Most condos in safe nieghborhoods I found were very expensive. It seems like in the course of 4 years most of your mortgage payments would goto intrest and you wouldent build much equity at all.

I might just not understand enough about mortages. Also somewhat concerned about this housing bubble popping and having to sell at a loss when 2011 rolls around.
