Hey Everyone! Trying to narrow down my school list so I can submit my application ASAP. I just graduated and am currently in a gap year, hoping to get a job and volunteer after finishing up AMCAS stuff.
My Stats:
3.85 sGPA and cGPA
BS in Biomedical Science and BA in Philosophy
33 MCAT ( 10PS, 13V, 10 BS)
Female ORM in California
~200 hours volunteering in hospital ER
~50 hours volunteering in hospice
~50 hours volunteering with refugees
~50 hours misc. volunteering (non clinical)
1 week medical mission trip
1 SURF-type cancer research summer program
1 Summer doing research and development at Tech company on a Biotech project
1.5 years Biochemistry Lab - 1 Third author publication
1 Semester doing Social Science type Philosophy Research
~300 hours for a Primary Care Medical Assistant internship (Scribing, Shadowing, Vitals, Administrative Stuff), around 100 of these hours spent shadowing
~50 hours shadowing other doctors
Many Campus Leadership Activities
-VP of Premed Club
-Treasurer of a special interest club
-Various elected positions in the Student Government
Many Awards, some notable are:
-one cancer research award.
-Philosophy awards
-Full Scholarship for undergrad (academic)
-Phi Beta Kappa
So here is my school list. Would love any critiques on school list or if there's anything I can improve with my EC's during my gap year. Is 29 schools too much for a CA resident?
