So after 24 years of Midwestern winters I've been looking into the family medicine residency in Santa Rosa, California and am very interested in applying there. Any insider information/experiences with this program? Also, is getting an interview/position difficult as a Midwestern D.O. student?

Much appreciated.

Trained at Touro Ca...Santa Rosa is one of the most competitive FM for even MD in the state....it may be a stretch... But it all depends on your usmle and grades. It ranks up there with Ventura for MD programs.

Does having only COMLEX for Step 1 effectively rule me out of contention?

I think MD programs will still look at you with just COMLEX but it will definitely put you at a disadvantage.
