I have been noticing a lot of talk about CA residents having to go all over the place for medical school. Is that because CA produces an abnormally high percentage of pre-med students, if so then why? Or is it just because it is a huge state with lots of people?

Option B :) (with maybe a spice of Option A thrown in)

I'd say they're too many ambitious californian premeds and not enough space for all of them. I've heard the average californian applies 10-15 more schools that the nat'l average (this true? where's the link on the amcas site?). if we compare california to florida, FL only has like two or three med schools. the FL people must be the ones who migrate more than we do..hehe. or maybe, not as many are premeds.

FL to AL!!!

WooHoo! What a monster move!

plus the fact that all 5 uc's, u.s.c., and stanford are all excellent schools that are very hard to get into. so a lot of folks end up having to pack their bags to milwaukee, new york, etc.
