At UOP we got this messagge from our dean Dr. Dugoni, I thought sharing it with you for those of you interested in the matter. However this messagge has been edited.
"I recently received a comprehensive report of the results of the 2004 California State Licensing Examination from the Dental Board of California. I am pleased to inform you that the University of the Pacific graduates had a 92 percent success rate. 109 individuals took the California board examination, 100 passed, and 9 failed. This was the highest success rate of any of the California schools as announced by the chair of the examining committee of the Dental Board of California.
We can be extremely proud of our graduates and the faculty with these outstanding results. There were 178 candidates who took the examination at the University of the Pacific. The pass rate for all candidates was 80 percent.
A review of the examination results reveals exceptional performance by our graduates in endodontics and removable prosthodontics. Several students earned scores of 100 in these disciplines and many scored in the middle to high 90s. In reviewing the scores of the nine individuals who failed, many of them scored at a very impressive level in certain sections of the examination, but failed two parts below the passing grade of 75. It is interesting to note that all the individuals who failed had a passing average score for all of the examinations and one of the students who failed had an average score of 80. One of our graduates of the Class of 2004 took the examination at the Southern California site and passed. At the Southern California site, the pass rate for all candidates was 75 percent.
Congratulations to the Class of 2004 for an outstanding success rate. We will work diligently with the nine candidates who failed the examination. I do not have the results yet of the Western Regional exam, but I believe a majority of the nine individuals who failed the California exam passed the Western Regional exam.
