Do you think it is wise for one to DEMAND an explanation when put on hold or waitlist?

Will someone that actually influence admission answer this when I call?

No. You are not really in a position to demand anything, and don't want to burn whatever slim chance you have of getting off the hold or waitlist. All you can do is keep them updated with any changes in your application, and perhaps a letter of interest to let them know you are interested.

And besides, the response will always be that "the school is receiving an extremely large number of competitive applications for a small number of spots and thus they cannot offer an interview/acceptance to all qualified applicants. But thanks for playing.":)

You've had some pretty outlandish questions in your less than 20 posts here, most of which could have been answered using common sense.

NO. It is a horrible idea to call and demand to know why you were put on hold. Jesus, anyone can figure this out.

If you are rejected, some schools will tell you which parts of your application they felt were lacking, but only if you ask nicely and set up a phone appointment.

They won't tell you. It's confidential, unless it's a small school, then they may be nice and tell you.

I think places will usually tell you what happened with a rejection, but only when they are not swamped with other things to do. Like near the end of the season, or in summer. :p
