I was recently selected to do summer research at a top 10 medical school during the summer between M1 and M2 year. I will be working full time and also get paid.
I am very excited about this opportunity to do research and also enjoy nyc during the summer. However, what’s holding me back is that Asian hate crimes are rampant nowadays especially in nyc and as an Asian woman I feel that I am vulnerable.
I have never lived in a big city like nyc so I feel very nervous about it.
If you were me, would you take on this work? Or should I look for something else maybe at my medical school? My medical school is low to mid tier so I thought working at a top 10 medical school would be a great opportunity to form connections.
Would love to hear some advice!
