Hi, I'm a Texas resident attending a state school. I plan on applying to matriculate Fall 2011. I am also currently planning to take the MCAT very early next year, but I anticipate 30+ score from practice tests but who knows....

Anyway,

cGPA: 3.67
sGPA: 3.43

ECs
-Hospital Volunteer (~80 hr + ~100 from HS from shadowing in surgical unit)
-Community Cultural Organization (countless hours from childhood until now)
Organized fundraiser for impoverished school in foreign countries
Volunteered at various events
Folk Dancer
-Various Other smaller volunteer activities (~50 hr)
-University Honors Student Association
-Honors Societies
-University Cultural Organization
- Shadowing (just started with ENT and Family Practice ~15hr so far continuing in the fall)

Research
-Started as lab slave, working up to honors thesis (~1 year so far..)

Employment
- Family Restaurant Waitress/Hostess/Bar Back (~2 years)
- Clinic Physical Therapy Assistant/Receptionist/Medical Assistant (~6 mo)
- ENT Medical Clerical Position (~8 mo)
- Ophthalmic Tech/Receptionist (~3 mo)
- Student Lab Assistant (~1 year and continuing)

Awards/Honors
- Various scholarships
- Dean's List
- University Honor Roll

What else can I do? I'm applying to all TX school and a few OOS as well. Plus I have 22 hours of sciences until application time to bump up my sGPA.

Thanks!

tough to comment w/o an mcat score. as always, the higher the better.

its good you have clinical and research experience. keep at it.

w/ 22hrs left i think you should be able to get the sgpa to 3.5. although this is still on the lower side of those accepted, i dont think that this alone would keep you out.

seems like youd be a competitive candidate.

good luck on the mcat!

+1.

MCAT will determine where you will be highly competitive.
37+ = top tier
35-36 = upper mid-tier to top tier
33-34 = mid tier
31-32 = lower mid tier, low tier
29-30 = low tier
26-28 = osteopathic

Your ECs are shaping up well. Good work. You have something in all the categories I consider important, including a bit of leadership in organizing a fund raiser. If you could do more of the same this year, that will make the leadership stronger. Otherwise, with the continuing shadowing, I think you're going to have a very nice application.
