did you register for the NRMP? If so, you were withdrawn from the match. Then you will get the scramble list and can participate. If the previous is not true, you won't get the scramble list and won't know where to scramble.

If you do get the list and scramble...it's highly unlikely that you will match anywhere due to the fact that you haven't passed IICK...especially as an IMG.

Good luck.

I did not pass the CS and am currently, waiting for my scheduling permit to reschedule a new date. As of the time of this post, the earliest date is in May. I am looking to find a spot if someone cancels...have been seeing dates pop up occasionally...

I plan on participating in the scramble...what are the chances of me getting a spot in the scramble without a passing CS score, but with an assurance that I will take it and pass it in the "next few months". I don't know what exactly to tell program directors if I am asked "when will I be taking my CS" considering I have not scheduled a date yet, but will schedule one once a date pops up.

I know that if any program will take me via the scramble, it will be a risk they are taking. Hell, should I even try scrambling at all?!?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated...Thanks for any help!

I have spoken with a couple of PDs about the importance of Step 2 CS, and if you are a US Grad who has passed Step 1 and Step 2 and are slated to graduate on time, CS failure is not that big of a thing. The test itself is still of questionable effectiveness with a handful of outstanding US grads failing every year and having to retake. If you are an IMG however, there may be cause for concern and the need to scramble.

why?

because in the US, there is a 'standard of teaching'...whereas in other countries, that is not the case. US program directors don't know what kind of teaching/training you received in a foreign country, especially if you are a non-citizen who is coming to the US to train/practice.

go directly back to fourth year. do not pass go.

You need Step II CS for ECFMG, ergo match/scramble
