I spoke with an admissions officer about this. School X doesn't give 300 acceptances all at the same time. It is done continuously. So lets say at first they give out 100 acceptances for a class size of 100. They then receive 50 rejections from students they accepted because those students had acceptances from other schools they wanted to to go to. 50 more vacant spots just opened up. The schools then send out 50 more accpetances to other students (that totals 150 acceptances for a class size of 100). They then receive 25 rejections from the students they sent to notices to because again, they want to go to other schools. 25 spots open up for students now on the alternate list. They they keep sending acceptance letters out to individuals until they fill their class. So in the end, school X had to send out 300 acceptances to fill a class size of 100. I hope that helps. 😳
