Can you bring coffee on Test Day?

I was wondering what you are allowed to have with you at your desk. Can you bring a cup of joe?

technically...the MCAT administration says no eating, no drinking and no smoking in testing room...however when i took it, I saw people having energy drinks and water tucked under the desks and the proctors didnt mine.

I think it depends on your test proctors. Ours would have let you have coffee. Beware the diuretic effects.

Our proctors just suggested not eating, drinking during the test, just during breaks. I mean, do you really want a big coffee stain on your PS answer sheet? I kept my coffee safely under my desk until each section was collected.

Oh, and I didn't drink my usual 100oz. of coffee. Bladder thing, you know?

I'm a serious coffee drinker and picked up a (whatever they call the really big one) Starbucks on the way in, planning to sip it throughout PS. No such luck, the proctor wouldn't let me in the room with it. So I slammed it. Depends on the proctor I guess.

Yea that's what I was thinking. I know I was dying during my SATS b/c I drank too much coffee. So they don't let you got to the bathroom at all during the test? How long is each section and how much of a break do you get in between?

Yea by morning i seriously have 3-4 cups of coffee and then continue it all day long. I suppose i'll have to remeber to get enough sleep and not drink so much or i'll have a seious bladder problem.

Wait a minute...can you not use the bathroom during the test? I mean..of course, it will take away from the alloted time. But, I've heard that you can leave the testing room if you need to. Is this true?

I know people left during the timed sections at my admin., but I wouldn't plan on being able to. Maybe it was just my proc's. They were really nice--and tolerant. When a cell phone went off, they DIDN'T kick the person out like I heard was possible.

We were not allowed to have drinks. We had to place them on the window sill away from our desks, and we could only drink during the breaks!

just to chime-in for some consistency: you ARE allowed to go to the restroom during the test. if your proctors don't let you, then it is your duty to pummel them and then relieve yourself while they are prone and unconscious. 👍 🙂

Each section is about 100 minutes and you get a 15-20 minute break between 1-2 and 3-4. You get an hour or more for lunch.

You can also go to the bathroom, etc during the test - but you loose time. If you finish early you can go but they only let 1 at a time out.

Hmm... if they dont let you go to the bathroom all i can say is let it go man, just let it go !!

Our proctors let us get away with all sorts of cool stuff. Food, drink, whatever. They even let one guy in without a photo id, provided he brought it after the lunch break.

But as for me, i was so nervous i didnt really feel like eating on test day. My friend i took it with made me force something down at lunch.
