can you defer dental school enrollment

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hypothetically, yes. Anything is possible.

Realistically, I've seen threads on SDN where the answer always seems to be no. Dental schools are assembling classes for next fall. Deferred entrance seems to only be with compelling circumstances.

I wouldn't recommend calling the dental schools on this one. You could always start, have an emotional crisis a week later, ask to start over next year, and use your student loans to go live the good life (a generalized term) for a year.

yes, you can. i got in to BU late in the cycle ( really late mid of july) and deffered. you juss gotta pay 2 $3000 deposits to save your spot

I think the majority of schools don't let you though. When I've talked to admin ppl about it they say that they look for specific personalities to round out each class, so just because you fit into one class doesn't mean you will fit into the other 🙄 . I think the real reason is that it's a hassle for them because they have to find another student.
