I was wondering what the possibilities were regarding sharing patients. Say for example there are 2 of us (FPs) and we each work 3-4 days/week.

Sunday: FP1
Monday: FP1
Tuesday: FP1
Wednesday: FP1 + FP2
Thursday: FP2
Friday: FP2
Saturday: FP2

I don't know if this is common or possible. I guess this is an attempt to balance family lives with work. What are your thoughts?

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work, and I'm sure it's being done already. It's actually very common in pediatrics. I recommend assigning patients to one doctor, and scheduling routine follow-up appointments with that doctor for the sake of continuity. However, there's nothing wrong with having your patients seen by your partner(s) when you're out of the office, on vacation, have a full schedule, etc. We all do that. Nobody can be available 100% of the time.

Hope this helps,
Kent
