I think (with decent DAT scores) you have a very good package so far for getting into a US school.

I honestly don't know how your having attending US schools for undergrad with impact your chances with applying to Canadian dental schools. You'd probably have to take the Canadian DAT for one thing. I'm not sure if your GPAs will be directly compared to your Canadian applicant counterparts, but I have heard their GPA requirements are somewhat higher. I wish I could give you a better analysis, but your case is somewhat unusual.

You might try directly contacting a few of our Canadian users for input, you can PM them:

You might also want to take a brief look at some numbers for Canadian dental schools:

Thanks for the reply. After reading all the reviews about Canadian dental schools, I'm starting to lean towards just applying for US dental schools regardless of the cost. It seems like I would be a more competitive applicant for US dental schools plus I won't have to go through the trouble of taking the Canadian DAT.

However, I'm a little worried about my grades. I know they're not terrible, but they're not fantastic either. Plus, I went to a CC and retook A&P and Biology. So, I just hope I kill the DAT and that my extra curricular activities will be my ticket in.

I decided to also do research in January while I study for the DAT so that should help a bit.

wow I'm SDN famous  :D

As a Canadian, i will tell you that you have no chance of getting anywhere in Ontario. And unless you are an in-provice student of anywhere outside Ontario then forget it. You would need a 3.85 on the OMSAS scale to be competitive in Ontario. But in the states your gpa will be higher and you have a good shot at private schools like BU and NY
