I think this question may have been asked before:

My situation:

Canadian citizen (no GC)
US training (UG, med school on F1. Residency, fellowship on H1B+extension).

I'm in my last year of fellowship, as I look for jobs, what type of restriction do I need to look out for? What kind of visa are my options?

What you want is an employer to transfer the H1b to, who will sponsor you for citizenship. That's the magic of the H1b visa.

You need a visa lawyer for this. It's complicated.

Depends on how many years of your H1b have been used. If you did a 2 year fellowship, then you still have 1 year of H1b left. If you did a 3 year fellowship, then you're H1b will be coming to an end -- I'm pretty sure you can still extend it if your future employer will start the GC process for you.

Did I mention you need a lawyer?
