Canadian DAT spec. Soap Carving

Hello all (and Canadian applicants/students),

I understand that most schools in the states accept the Canadian DAT, but are any of you aware of schools that look at the carving component? I emailed USC a while back, and to my surprise that they do look at it and expected me to have at least 18+ on it 😱 . Anyway, to all who have applied and wrote the Canadian DAT, are there any other schools that look at carving for whatever reason?

Noone really knows... I got a bad score on carving but the rest of my DAT was pretty good so I don't think it affected me. My guess is that they glance at it, and if it was low they may ask you about it. That happened to me actually at one of my interviews, but after explaining how fragile the material was, they understood and just laughed the whole thing off. Don't worry too much.

P.S - I presume you're a Canadian applicant like me, so what draws you to UNC? I didn't even apply there, and don't know much about the school at all. Just curious 🙂

My prof said it's an amazing school. No winter (I hope)!!!! Plus I have a thing for college basketball... and many amazing NBA players (i.e. VC) have played there, so I figure if I ever got the chance to attend a great school with an awesome Div. 1 bball team to watch on occasion, it would be worth the insane tuition (since I think that's the only state school that I would even have a remote chance of getting into). And plus... No winter!!!! Although I wouldn't mind going to NYU as well, since it's New York. Only potential downsides are the high tuition and winter lol. Well, I'm not too concerned about carving, I did alright the second time I around, but I figure if I got a question about it during an interview, I could joke around about the dudes who wore latex gloves and how they were beyond hardcore.

Ahh not the hurricanes!! Buffalo-Edmonton final All the way! Go edmonton go! Damn rights I'm canadian-manitoban--but an oilers bandwagon is definitely worth jumping on! --sadly i was rooting for ottawa in the beginning-- 😡
