Hello,
I recently checked Canadian Dental Association website, there are 2 programs which are accredited by the CDA (They are Qualifying programs, not Advance standing programs):
1- Dalhousie
2- UWO
link
At the same time, I checked American Dental Association website and found that there are 3 programs listed as Qualifying programs which are not accredited by the ADA:
1- Dalhousie
2- UWO
AND
3- U of Toronto
And also there are 3 other programs listed as Advance standing programs which are accredited by the ADA:
1- U of British Columbia
2- U of Alberta
3- U of Manitoba
link (page 9 and 10)
My question is that how come the ADA recognizes these programs although they are not recognized by the CDA?
If we assume that the ADA doesn't recognize those programs which offer only a certificate at the end but not a dental degree (DDS or DMD), then both UWO and Dalhousie offer a DDS degree, why these programs are not recognized by the ADA?
On the other hand why CDA didn't list U of Toronto as one of the accredited programs besides UWO and Dalhousie?
Are ADA and CDA working independent of each other in this case?
What's going on?
Thanks,
igores
