Does anyone know how easy it is for a Canadian student who goes to a US medical school to match back to Canada via CARMS? Let's say I want to get into family med.

Or what about a US student who goes to a US med school? The more I see of Trump, or people calling Beyonce a racist for standing up to racism, the more I want to get the hell out of this sorry excuse for a country.

I have the same question as you but it is actually Bernie and Billary who make me want to move out.

This was an unnecessarily rapid derail. At least pretend to answer the OP's question before dragging your politics into it.

Have fun with universal healthcare, subsidized education, and a serious talk about implementing pharmacare.

@zammyd I'm fairly sure you'll be in the first match so it's pretty straight forward. I'm not sure when you need to write licensing exams, etc though. Also keep in mind that if you're willing to go to the less desirable locations, there's less competition (obviously, same as US).

Because Canada stands for everything Bernie and Hillary don't right?

I can't remember the last time Canada wanted to grant citizenship to 11 million illegal immigrants by executive order. Also can't remember the last time they had a secretary of state who left an ambassador and soldiers to die by denying their request for support, let alone allow that person to run for president.

But both Bernie and Hillary want all of that. Socialism (barely) works in Canada and European nations because they have much smaller populations. I can't imagine what US healthcare would be like it is was run completely by the government.

By the way, I am not saying that a government single-payer healthcare system is bad, I am saying that it would not work in the US -- there are other solutions

Depending if it's MD or DO schools. DO graduates are only CMG in BC and IMG elsewhere, whereas MD graduates are CMG in all provinces. Either way, you will have to do elective rotation in Canada in your 4th year to show interests in the program. At the end of day, you will become a doctor, MD or DO, and you will easily match in US residency as AMG anyway. I would not worry too much about residency matching before you actually matriculate.
