Hey everyone, longtime lurker of this board and had a question that I wanted to ask you guys. I'm a recent Honours graduate and am going to be applying for grad programs in the fall. My main interests are in the domain of school psych. and forensic psych., and I plan on applying to schools that offer programs in both of these domains. I have a good idea of the programs in Canada that I'll be applying to but I do want to apply to some U.S. schools as well due to the limited amount of programs in Canada.

One program I was looking into was the PsyD at University of Southern Maine. Now this is where I became confused because this program is apparently not APA or NASP accredited but their now defunct Specialist Degree program in School Psych was NASP accredited not too long ago. I'm wondering if this is a program worth applying to despite this, as I will probably want to come back and work in Canada at some point and there seems to be a lot of School Psych openings, a few of which I know of have been posted for years and have not been able to be filled. I've been looking for more programs along the eastern seaboard and wondering if anyone here had any other suggestions. It wouldn't really matter if it was a specialist program or PsyD program, or whether it was funded or not.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this and can offer up any advice!

I don't know anything about forensic psychology. But as far as school psychology goes I would not apply to any school that is not fully accredited by NASP. If a program is accredited by NASP then it is much easier to get certification in other states once you graduate. This is at least the case in my area, I don't know much about Canada but I assume it is the same up there as well. Sorry I could not be a little more help!
