Hi.
I am a first year med student in MSU CHM.
I would like to stay in the US for residency programs with a H1B visa.
However, to have a H1B visa, I would need to pass STEP 3.
Is it even possible to get a residency program with H1B visa on the same year of your graduation?
eg. I am entering year 2011..my grad year is 2015. Is it possible to get a resident program in the July of 2015?

If you know any canadian us med graduate doing residency in the US with H1B visa, please ...PLEASE...talk to me..
I need help!!!

Yes, you can. As a US med school graduate, you will get 12 months of Optional Practical Training, which you can using during your internship year. It is an extension of your F1 visa. During your intern year you can take Step 3 and then get sponsored for the H1b starting with the second year of residency.

That's just what I need !!!.
Thank you.
Btw, so when you apply to residency..you still indicate the need of H1B visa even though I will be on Optional Practical Training?
