Hey guys!

So I am a second year undergrad student and need your help! I'm planning to apply to American medical schools after my undergrad but I messed up my first year real bad. My first year gpa was a 3.0 and got low 60's in chem II and calculus :(. I'm finding second year to be way better and hoping to change my grades drastically since I learned from my mistakes first year.

As for extracurriculars I am going through the interviewing process in order to volunteer at a hospital and trying to look into a research placement. I was wondering what other kinds of EC's I should do and what is a good gpa to have for Canadian applicants?

Any advice would be great, I'm so lost and confused at the moment.

Don't want to know what your sGPA is...a good GPA for Canadian applicants would be ~3.8, thought you could probably get in with a little lower.

I think you might be looking at retaking Chem II as well. A D- in a prereq looks pretty bad.
