Cardio Thoracic path??

Can anyone tell me the path of going into cardio thoracic. Do you have to complete a 5 year residency and then do a fellowship. Or do you do a fellowship after 3 years?

5 years of general surgery + 2-3 year Cardiothoracic fellowship

In theory, programs CAN accept you after 3 years of GS but this isn't happening. Actually, there is talk of integrated 3+3 CT residencies but they don't exist yet as the CT guys are a little resistent to change.
