Cardiology and PA's/NP's

I am soon to match (hopefully) in IM, then on to cardiology. During my fourth year cardiology rotation my 'mentor' was a PA. I'm not trying to start a flare-fest, but has anyone else seen an increase in cardiology PA/NP's... and if so, what has been the scope of their practice.
