    Hi everybody.
I'm very interested in a career in cardiology, so what med school have the best cardiology programs. And also, how long does it take to become a cardilogist, or a cardiovascular surgeon?

    Thank you

    To become a cardiologist:
    4 years medschool
    3 years internal medicine residency
    3 years cardiology fellowship
1 year additional fellowship for interventional cardiology or EP.

    To become a cardiovascular surgeon:
    4 years medschool
    5 years general surgery residency
1 to 3 years of cardiothoracic surgery fellowships

Med schools with cardiology programs? This doesn't really matter. Specialization in cardiology requires a fellowship, the internal medicine residency evaluations and USMLE scores are what is important.

To clarify something else to the OP (who appears to be very new to learing about all this).

You do medical school, then you apply to residencies all over the country, and after you do residency, you apply to fellowships all over the country. So where you go to medical school is unlikely to be were you complete your training as a cardiology fellow.
