I'm curious what career directions residents and students are considering. Let's see if we can categorize somewhat, though there will always be "others."
A) Private practice: inpt, outpt or comb inpt/outpt; group or solo
B) Public outpt; incl community, VA, healthcare for the homeless
C) Public inpt; community, VA, State
D) Research
E) Academic

Public = paid by a gov't healthcare agency
Private = pay based on billings or cash

Agreed, my job is a little bit of "All of the Above", except research--which I left behind me long ago (almost as happily as Sazi will leave the hospital).
