This is re-post from the AACOMAS 2007 Q/C thread. May be I'll be able to get more clicks/answers on it 😕 😀

Hi All!
Hopefully I'llbe able to get some pointers here. Sorry if this' been asked before. On AACOMS app we must answer "medical school accepted/attended" Q. For me it's yes,b/c I studied in East Europe (domicile) MD program in late 1980s, and some credits were given to me for my U.S undergrad. I'll enter that. But...that's not all. Back in May 2004 I was accepted to ROSS, SABA, SMU. Went to ROSS (Dominica) financed through SallieMae (Stafford). I'd rather not mention it b/c I withdrew after a 1 semester, mostly for health reasons, and have not taken any finals there, and therefore no grades to show. But I don't want it to look like I'm hiding something. Since if accepted, I'll have to apply for feds loans again, I don't want it to come back and bite me in my @$$ Any thoughts?
TIA

Sorry to tell you this, but if you don't list it, it WILL come back to bite you in the ass. My only advice (I am just applying this cycle) is to make sure you health issues are well documented, and demonstrate that these health issues are no longer an issue. If you do this, I would be willing to bet that as long as your numbers look good, there will be a school that accepts you. Good luck in the process, but definitely don't screw yourself over by not disclosing this important piece of information.

I agree. Don't try to hide it.

Don't hide. If they find out, any acceptances could be recinded. Since you dropped for health reasons, that will not hold against you. Just explain (in detail) what health reasons and let the adcoms know you are serious about med school despite your previous health issues.

I agree. You have to list anywhere where you actually matriculated. You can tell them that it was for health reasons in your essay, but definitly list the schools where you started classes.

I agree. You must disclose, since I am pretty sure they will find out if you don't. Omissions of information can lead to rescinding any acceptance offers. Since you financed through Sallie Mae, I am assuming these were loans, which would come up on a credit report. Many private universities require you to complete a credit report (once accepted) to show that you can finance your medical education.
