Sunflower....Everything changed in CA after 1/1/04.
After that date, pharmacists (either new grads or pharmacists from other states) had to pass the NAPLEX and the Multistate Jurispurudene Examination for CA. That allowed licensure in the state of CA.
We do not have now nor have ever had reciprocity. However.....now that we use the NAPLEX (which was rewritten in 2003 to conform to CA standards), all you have to do is pass the CA jurisprudence examination to become licensed in CA. So that has allowed reciprocity which so many wanted, but not without passing that jurisprudence examination.
If you've been educated in another state...you just need to take the NAPLEX & the jurisprudence.
If you are a foreign grad.....its lots more complicated.
If you are a licensed pharmacist who did not take the NAPLEX before 12/31/2003 & want to become a CA pharmacist (oooh - that would be me....if I weren't already licensed!!!)...then you have to take that exam.
The jurisprudence in CA is very difficult - lots of clinical & not just law....from what I've heard. More recent grads can give you their take on this - certainly CA pharmacists educated here will not find it difficult.
Does that help you?
Zpak - do you keep your CA license?????
