lol, i think Columbus is a nicer city than Cleveland, which just shows how subjective everything is. 🙂
University Circle up here in Cleveland though is really nice. The Cleveland Orchestra has been wonderful to go see, and the museums around here are all within walking distance. Cleveland weather, however, sucks it in the winter. It gets quite gray and depressing and you get sick of the snow and lake effect. Columbus isn't all that much better but I think you get a little more sun there, especially in the winter months, and it's generally a few degrees warmer.
Case is NOT, I repeat NOT, a college-town atmosphere of any kind. To get anywhere fun you'll need to drive. Apart from our cultural hub near campus, there's almost nothing else. I think that's my biggest complaint. I was trying to find something to eat for lunch today and my only options were The Falaffel Cafe, the hospital cafeteria (blech), a deli sandwich from a deli that doesn't have air-conditioning, and McDonalds. I had a cheeseburger. 🙂 Seems like High Street in Columbus and the surrounding area has more things to do.
I would agree with other posters that Case tends to have a slightly better reputation particularly research-wise, but OSU is by no means a bad place either and is definitely on the rise. You'll have ample clinical opportunities at both places. Cleveland's University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic (and the wonderful people at Metrohealth) may be more well known, but OSU's hospitals are just as good. That being said, the advantage OSU has over Case is the money. So I would say, go to whichever place you liked better/felt more comfortable at. If you're concerned about the money, and are ambivalent about the schools, OSU gives you just as good an education and facilities (in my opinion).
I know people that gave up Case for OSU, as well as OSU for Case.
