I was looking on scutwork at the unfilled residency spots and I saw several that were listed as Categorical positions. Is this when you start your residency with the guarantee that you will be going into a subspecialty such as Cardiology when you are finished?
Thanks for the info.

nope.
it means that you are doing a 3 year internal medicine residency, not a preliminary 1 year position for those who are testing the waters, or going to rads or something
