Cavities making a comeback?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Doesn't surprise me because there has been a lot of talk about junk food in schools. These soda and junk food companies put vending machines for their products at practically every school they can get their hands on. This also causes increasing obesity among kids. Oh well, more job security for dentists and physicians.

I grew up in a fluoridated community. I have none cavity, so somehow this F- has something to do with it. But I thought they dont advise infants-6y.o. to use fluoridated fluid anyway. So for the 3 yrs old baby, why should they blame bottled water to be the cause? It is probably a Canadian thing.

Not sure how true this is but thought it was interesting:

"TORONTO, Sept. 19-Tooth decay is making a comeback, fueled by junk food, spurred by social changes, and abetted by an unusual culprit - bottled water..."

You mean from infants to 1 yr old ? 😉 😉 😉 1 galon of flouridated water for children is very cheap at wart-mart. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I learned till 6y.o. otherwise, the prevalence of fluorosis will be higher. Seriously, I havent seen fluoridated water being sold at walmart? Those reverse osmosis machine actually takes fluoride away, so it could be blamed for caries as well then.

That may be what they teach up in Canada due to politics (people are weird about fluoridation), but really the most cariostatic effects of fluoridation are achieved in young kids.

It's called "Nursery," and is sold in 1 gallon containers at every Wal Mart accross the country. It's fairly cheap at $1, and a great buy for those communities that don't drink tap water (such as here in Arizona).
