hi, does anyone know where I can buy a listening audio tape or CD for anatomy or biochemistry that I can just listen to in the car and review facts, information, etc? I learn pretty well in that method but I can't find it where I could buy something like this. Thanks!

Gold Standard Board Review. You can get Step I (preclinical CDs) and Step II (Clinical CDs), as well as a Foundations in Internal Medicine cassette package. The entire set is a little pricey, but so far I'm really liking it, and I do listen to them in the car 🙂

Hope it helps.

The step I tapes are great for course work, but can be a bit too detailed for boards. Considering that your first 2 yrs are more or less step I prep, this is a strength rather than a weakness. I would suggest getting them early.

I also bought "Foundations of internal medicine", and did not find it helpful.

I wonder about the step 2 series... Anyone have an opinion?

i would love to just get their individual subject tapes, like physio. 300 bucks is a lot. any other idea?

yeah i got another idea. i bought the gold standard step 1 CDs from Ebay for only $85! haha! whooo!

Now of course, it is not 55 CDs. It is on 6 CDs with MP3s.....good 'cause I can listen to them on my CD-based mp3 player. I'll have to make CDs for the car using Roxio, Nero or any other program........but so what I saved over $200. Ebay sellers also give you the high yield book and track listing.

If you don't find a set with CDs or at a good price, wait. gold standard is always on sale at ebay.

These are excellent CDs that cover every subject. Ok yeah there are a ton of CDs but a lot of info is covered and excellent when you get tired of reading. Driving, listen to Gold Standard 50% of the time and then music the other 50%. Makes a great combo. Fire up that portable CD player 'cause these aer worth it.

I bought mine off Ebay about 2 months ago for $110. There's an auction going on right now....it's already at $150 because they are the original CDs. Most people give you MP3s and then you do whatever you want with them. look out b/c people sell tapes to, so watch otu if you dont' want cassette tapes.

soopa, did u listen to them just for boards or for class too? were they helpfulfor classes?

Anyone use these for clinics? How were they? I've been looking for something like this but haven't heard of anyone actually using them. I can only sit and read OBGYN for so long......

Thanks,
P

Su4n2, I used them for class sometimes when I got bored of reading and just wanted to review details just by "listening." Then these CDs can help you with weak subjects. But of course, the best is for the boards.

Do you feel like you're retaining a lot of this stuff? How often do you listen to them? One hour or more each day?

Are any of these available from the school library so they could be checked out and copied?

i am planning on using it. Over here, there are no
pre recorded cassettes or cds. I will do that manually... pretty intensive. 🙂

Wish i could get some of those cassettes, they work.

Dude you guys haven't started school yet, that's crazy. You probably already bought some usmle step 1 material too, huh?

I used the CD series to augment my Step 1 prep and I really felt like it made a difference. It is just another mode of hearing the information. Worked for me.

Hey, I just posted a for sale thread including my copy of the CDs. It is complete I might add.

Cheers
