Hi,
My stats are:
cGPA 3.0
sGPA 3.6
SMP 3.4 (unfinished)
MCAT: 1) 36 (14/10/12) from January 2014
2) 26 (7/10/9) from August 2012.
Tons of clinical experience with hands on patient care in an ophthalmic setting (private practice with surgery experience, and hospital setting). MD shadowing, but no DO shadowing (but I will have that within the next few weeks and will send out update letters).
My issues are the following:
1) I have a C- in an English class that I must use for completing the 6 credits of English writing (which a lot of the schools require). I won't be able to retake this course until summer of next year due to work commitments. Is this something that schools can be flexible with? They usually require at least a C for required coursework.
2) My MCAT is from January 2014, so some schools that require that the MCAT be taken within a certain number of years of matriculation or application seem to be out of reach now (for example, UNECOM requires an MCAT within 2 years of application). Are schools at all flexible with this requirement?
Here is my school list (updated 8/9/2016)
CCOM (REJECTED)
NYIT-COM
MSU-COM
KCUMB-COM (ACCEPTED on 11/2, interviewed on 10/12)
AZCOM
UNECOM (interviewing on 11/9)
Rowan
LECOM - Erie and Seton Hill
LECOM - Bradenton
DMU-COM (secondary received, going to wait until I have shadowed on the 31st of Aug)
ACOM (secondary received)
MU-COM (secondary received)
Touro NY (secondary received)
WV-COM (secondary received)
I am a reapplicant (submitted primaries to a bunch of DOs, but only secondaries to CCOM and NYIT-COM for the past couple of years, and didn't get in because it was VERY late).
EDIT: I have been accepted to KCUMB, which was my top choice.
Thanks.
