Taking MCAT this June, but let's assume a 33 for my chances since I see this as a very realistic score for myself.

ECs:
100hr+ Clinical volunteering

50hr Shadowing 3 specialties

Bio TA 1yr

2 schools years of research and 2 summer research experiences (won research prize at one of them).
Poster presentations and an oral presentation (at a conference). Possible pub by the end of this semester, but probably not in time to put on app.

2 club leadership positions.

1 semester non-clinical volunteering

Play musical instrument

Other:
Strong personal LORs, URM (black), solid PS, Top 20 UG

MA resident but might not qualify as one due to 5 yr requirement. Doing Gap year either doing Americorp or outreach work in a free health clinic.

I would think this is too top heavy, though being URM helps... If I were you I'd pick at least 2-3 of those first 10 schools and replace with others.

this list is super top heavy (especially # 1-4, 6-8)

and your GPA is average at best, although URM will help it a bit.

The general consensus is about 20-30 schools based on who you ask.

Add a few more safety schools, continue your EC's and clinical experience, and rock the MCAT. Good luck!

You are aware that Michigan and Pitt are similarly ranked/selective to the ones you've pointed out...?



@OP, seems pretty top-heavy to me, but I'm not an expert on how much URM will boost your app.

I'm thinking this now. Honestly I'd be happy to go to any school on this list. Feel like with a decent MCAT I'll at least get one of them (but nothing is certain).
