Hello! I've been lurking here for a long time and finally decided it's time for me to make an account and say hello!

I'm applying this coming June and wanted to get ya'lls opinions on how I'll fare this cycle.

My sGPA=3.24, BCP GPA=3.24, overall GPA=3.30 and non-sci GPA=3.40
DAT: 22TS, 21AA, 19 PAT

I have shadowing, work experience, volunteering and some leadership positions. However, it's all pretty standard stuff and nothing fancy. Oh, and I'm also a white female from California.

I'm considering applying to,
UCSF
UoP
Western
USC
ASDOH
Midwestern AZ + IL
LECOM
Roseman
Boston U
Tufts
Marquette
UNLV
How about University of New England? Or would that just be a total waste of money since I'm not from the area?

What other schools should I add to my list? How about some out of state friendly schools? I want to apply to at least 20 schools to increase my chances.

Thank you everyone for your help. This forum has been completely invaluable to me ever since I stumbled upon it!

Your scores are fine, I think you should be able to get accepted. I would probably remove UCSF and UOP, but maybe since you are a cali resident, it could work to your advantage.

Your stats are very similar to mine. I'm curious to see what others have to say on this matter too.

Seconded in terms of waiting for responses. Have you thought of historically black colleges (e.g. Howard/Meharry)? Though I must admit I am completely ignorant of their acceptance rates for non-minorities.

It definitely seems like you're tailoring your school list based off your GPA/DAT. That being said, I think you'll definitely get in somewhere. However, if you can afford to apply to 20 schools, just keep adding schools you like. There's always a chance you'll end up in a school that's you didn't think you were cut out for and you'll be glad you applied.

University of Washington
University of Utah
University of the Pacific
University of Texas Health Sci Ctr at Houston
University of Texas Dental School
University of Oklahoma
University of Colorado
Tufts University
Texas A&M University/Baylor College

State University of New York - Stony Brook
Southern Illinois University
Roseman University of Health Sciences
Oregon Health and Science University

LECOM School of Dental Medicine

I am from OK with a 3.3 GPA, will take the DAT in two months. Obviously OU is my #1 choice, suggestions on other 4 to send scores?

I would remove UOP, UCSF, and ASDOH.

(ASDOH mainly because you said everything was "standard" on your application and they probably wont bite)

(UOP and UCSF mainly because your stats are not great and if nothing else makes up for it on your app, then you are kind of wasting your money)

Every other schools looks promising in my opinion. Write a really good personal statement and hope for good LORs.

If you are not a Utah resident, I wouldn't bother with U of U.

Apply early!!! Your stats are good. Not excellent, but you most def can get accepted somewhere, and if I were you, I would work my butt off to get my app in super fast just to be safe. I think you should be fine for your #1 school too. Best of luck!

If you're a Cali Res. just apply to all the Cali schools. You never know if you don't apply, plus you get that nice in-state tuition for the public schools. Add UCLA. DAT scores are good. I had average stats and didnt even plan on getting an interview/acceptance to UM. GPA was 3.09 overall when I got interview. DAT was 22/21/21. So go for it, you'll def get in somewhere. and hopefully it's Cali, because this out-of-state tuition is killer.

oh and ADD UMich SOD

Thanks guys. As of now, I plan to keep UCSF and UOP on my list. And per a users advice on here, I'll consider adding UCLA. I have a budget of $2000 to spend on AADSAS school applications, so It looks like I'll need to keep my list to between 15-20 schools.

My only concerns about these schools (and a few others on my list, namely BU) are that they are in highly populated areas, high cost of living areas. Ideally, I'd like to attend a school in somewhere where cost of living is low (i.e., not having to pay $1600+ a month for a small two bedroom apartment, as I do now in the bay area).

You're wasting your time with the Texas schools. UOP as well imo. Spend the money on DAT prep. Creighton might be a good option. Boston too.

Any suggestions?

Masters was genetics.
I am looking to modify my list. Should I switch out any school that may be better suited?
Thanks

You can try Howard, but your chances are low if you're not URM. You may want to add on some other new schools/expensive privates, as they will be your best shot.

Panda you should make yourself a clean thread for school list advice! Howard is not good to non URMs - rejected here 2yrs in a row

OP, I have almost identical DAT scores. Slightly higher science GPA and a higher overall GPA. I applied this cycle and was not given interviews at any of the new schools (MOSDOH, UNE, LECOM), Boston, USC or NYU. I was given interviews at Penn, UDM, Louisville (OOS) and Maryland (OOS).

Moral of the story: you never know what to expect.

You really don't! This process is such a crap shoot! GL!
