Hey guys,

So I am rather new to the site and I was just wondering what my chances are of getting into DO schools.

I decided on a career in medicine late in my undergraduate tenor (after my 4th year; I took a 5th year) and all of my extracurriculars have been done in the past 2 years. Just a little background about myself: I come from the rural central valley and am interested in primary care/ER.

Here are my stats:
cGPA 3.34
sGPA 3.25
Graduated from a UC
Currently doing my MPH right now and will be applying this upcoming summer.
I will be taking the MCAT this spring. I hope to get at least a 30.

ECs:
*1.5 years working as an ER scribe
*2 years of clinical research in the ER
*2 other clinical research positions (1 for 4 months, the other for 3 months)
*Volunteered 180 hours in local hospital (ER, CT scan, Cardiology departments)
*Volunteered on a summer medical mission trip in Vietnam (2 weeks)
*Medical Assistant/Intern at private ophthalmologist office for 160 hours
*Have volunteered for this pre-medical and pre-health conference for 2 years (>500 hours)
*Surgical Intern for 4 months and am now one of the internship leaders (>400 hours total)
*Homeless shelter intern for 1.5 years
*Performed over 150 hours of community service for club on campus
*Volunteered for habitat for humanity (40 hours sporadically)
*Shadowed ER, neurosurgery, internal medicine, and orthopedic surgery (will look to shadow DOs in the upcoming months
*Recently accepted to volunteer at a student run clinic

Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

25-27 will be ok for low tier DO. 28+ will make you competitive at most DO schools.

Chances excellent! I hope you apply to my school.
