Hi guys, im new to this forum, Im an IMG, here is my query, I want to apply for the 2013-2014 residency match in General Surgery.

Chances of matching with USMLE step 1 score of 230, on2nd attempt, USMLE step 2 CK 260 and CS pass on first attempt, Step 3 230 on first attempt, 2 months USCE, 3 strong LORS from physicians in a top 5 U.S Hospital?
Recent graduate + 1 publication on the American College of Surgeons?

Chance for categorical surgery are low, most PDs will likely never look pass your 1st attempt at STEP 1

Is that because 230 on Step is rather low or is it because it's second attempt?

Even it's hard, but you have to try. Your exam scores show a good upward trend, that shows that you don't give up easily. Try to show that in your application and state the reasons why you failed the first time in your personal statement. Apply for prelimenary positions, perform well and try to work hard to get a categorical one.
