Chances with 29O but 3.74 CPGA and 3.91 SGPA

So my stats are a 29O (PS 8, VR 9, BS 12) with 3.74 CGPA and 3.91 SGPA. I’ve had plenty of ECs involving both basic and clinical research, plus shadowing, volunteering, and tutoring. I’m an OH resident and so am applying to all 6 in state schools (although I doubt I have a chance at Case or OSU) plus 11 out of state (all allop.). However, my primary is in limbo (I’ll probably wont send it in till 7/28 or 7/29) and it’s the end of July. What are my chances at state schools in OH (with the exception of OSU)? Should I wait since I’m applying so late, retake the MCAT and apply for 2010? Or is osteo the route I should go?

You have a shot at MD. I would say go for it. Your MCAT is not the best but it is good enough. I am sure you could probably squeeze out a couple interviews if you spent the money to apply to many schools. I think whether or not you get in will depend on your interviews. You will have to impress them. Good luck.

dude, your gpa is really good, and your science gpa is great. i would suggest applying next year - in the interim, retake the mcat, and if you are able to score in the mid 30's range, you'll be a great candidate for many med schools. don't rush this man - you're already pretty late this summer, and if you're willing to be patient for just oone more year, you'll do much better for yourself.
